As a Provisional Fellow in Anaesthesia at Peninsula Health, you will be part of a collaborative and supportive team of approximately 60 Specialist Anaesthetists, 20 accredited ANZCA trainees, 15 anaesthetic RMOs, 4 Acute Pain Clinical Nurse Consultants, 1 Research Nurse and 2 Personal Assistants. We operate in 18 theatres/anaesthetising locations across two campuses, supporting a busy emergency department, ICU, and delivery suite in addition to elective surgery. We provide anaesthetic and perioperative care for a broad range of procedural specialties, including general surgery, orthopaedics, thoracics, urology, vascular, ENT, fasciomax, obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatric, gastroenterology, respiratory, radiology, cardiology and ECT.
Work is well underway on a large hospital expansion/new building that will consist of 17 new operating theatres, with scope for continual expansion of clinical services offered by Peninsula Health and exciting future employment opportunities.
The preference is for 6 months full time PFY positions.

What You Will Be Doing
• Provision of anaesthetic care of adult and paediatric patients in the operating theatres/anaesthetising locations of Frankston Hospital (13) and Frankston Public Surgical Centre (5), including preoperative and postoperative care
• Support junior trainees in the provision of Acute Pain Service
• Support junior trainees in the provision of Labour Epidural Analgesia in the Birthing Suite (~3000 deliveries/year) • Provision of care when required in the care of critically unwell patients in the wards or emergency department.
• Participate in quality assurance and other departmental activities such as audits, research and special projects as required
• Participate in wellbeing and welfare support of junior trainees
As a Provisional Fellow in 2025, in addition to general PFY responsibilities, there will be the opportunity to pursue a specific theme/area of interest and lead/assist with related activities, for example:
- Simulation and Education – Simulation Centre (anaesthetic and non-anaesthetic sessions), in-situ Simulation/teaching in theatre/other critical care areas, Airway Courses, anaesthetic registrar/resident teaching programs, nursing in-services, support for related study or research activities
- Regional Anaesthesia – Rostering to regional-amenable surgical lists and perioperative care, regional anaesthesia teaching, related audit and QA activities, support for related study or research activities
- Perioperative Medicine – Pre-Admission Clinic, Perioperative Medicine/Orthogeriatric ward rounds, protocol and pathway development, support for Periop Med-related study or research
- Anaesthesia Research – Associate investigator role in local single-centre and large multi-centre ANZCA-CTN investigative trials, support for own research ideas
- Anaesthetic Anaphylaxis – Intravenous drug safety challenge clinic, assist with referrals for anaphylaxis clinic, assist with anaphylaxis simulation sessions, support for related study or research

What You Need
We anticipate you will have:
• AHPRA Registration
• ANZCA PFY Eligibility
• Completed (or expected to complete before commencement) ANZCA Fellowship Exam
• Ability to work dynamically and collaboratively
