What You Will Be Doing
As an In-patient Palliative Medicine Registrar, you will be providing clinical care for patients admitted in the Supportive and Palliative Care Unit, Frankston. Over a fortnight, your hours of work consist of 76 hours + 10 hours training/teaching time. You will be rostered from Monday to Friday (0830-1700 hours). You are required to participate in an on-call roster as per the Sub-acute (Rehabilitation, Ageing, Pain and Palliative Care Services) JMS roster that covers PH Supportive and Palliative Care Unit and rehabilitation wards at Golf Links Road and The Mornington Centre. There is always a senior medical staff member available either in person or on call by phone.
Peninsula Health, Alfred Health, Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service will merge to form Bayside Health from 1 January 2026. This is not likely to impact the role and responsibilities of the Palliative Care Unit Registrar. However, if required such changes to the job description will be communicated in a timely manner.

What You Need
- MBBS or equivalent degree
- General registration as a Medical Practitioner with the AHPRA without reprimands
- Minimum 12 months registrar experience
- RACP enrolment either as an advanced trainee or Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine Trainee
- Specialist trainees of the other relevant colleges can be considered.
- Commitment to the core values of Peninsula Health
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Current unrestricted driver’s licence recognised in Australia (Desirable)
- Thorough understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to medical practitioners
- Demonstrate appropriate level experience and skills in medical assessment and clinical management of patients
