On 1st January 2026, five health services (Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service) will come together to create Bayside Health; a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians.  

 

The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1st January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

 

The Team & Role

The Planned Surgery Clinical Coordinator works within the Planned Surgery Preparation List (PSPL) and Patient Support Unit (PSU), which consists of the Planned Surgery Access Manager, Planned Surgery Clinical Coordinators, Patient Support Unit and Booking Officers. The role involves the organisation and management of the elective surgery waiting list to ensure that those referred for surgery and procedures are provided with care in a timely manner, in accordance with the Victorian Elective Surgery Access Policy. The role is collaborative and involves communication with a broad multi-disciplinary team to meet identified goals.

Skills and Experience Required

 

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with relevant Nursing qualification
  • Sound written communication skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills including excellent telephone manner.
  • Ability to work unsupervised in a confidential environment.
  • Elective surgery waiting list management experience (desireable)
  • Experience utilising waiting list module in iPM (desireable)
  • Knowledge of Planned Surgery Access Policy (desireable)
  • Knowledge of Elective Surgery Information Systems and DHHS waiting list management policy (desireable)
  • Understanding of Elective surgery Key Performance Indicators (desireable)
