The Team & Role

The Older Adult Community Mental Health Team is a specialist multi-disciplinary and integrated service that provides care coordination through an assertive outreach model for older people who are experiencing severe and persistent mental health disorders.  The team provides a broad range of interventions, care coordination and support for those clients and their carers living in the Peninsula Health Mental Health Service catchment. 

The Endorsed Enrolled Nurse (EEN) is a valued and integral member of the OACMHT’s multidisciplinary team, demonstrating flexibility in caring for patients and their families across the organisation. The EEN works competently within their scope of practice to deliver safe, evidence based person centred care to achieve optimal health outcomes

The Endorsed Enrolled Nurse will support the teams Community Clinicians with the clinical support and provision of services to people with a mental illness that includes the frequent liaison with and referral to generalist services including general practitioners, private psychiatrists, external care agencies, and residential aged care facilities.

Skills & Experience Required

The Community Mental Health Enrolled Nurse, as a member of this multidisciplinary team, provides psychosocial support and assertive outreach to clients in the community setting.  The Clinician works competently within their scope of practice to deliver safe, evidence based person centred care to achieve optimal health outcomes.

What You Need 

We anticipate you will have:

• Qualified and Registered, with relevant National Board
• Demonstrated commitment to delivering high quality outcomes for consumers.
• Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with experience.
• Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, the National Standards for Mental Health Services 2010, the National Standards for the Mental Health Workforce 2002 and the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards including EQuIP
• Able to use basic computer software applications.
• Prepares written documentation using clear, concise and grammatically correct language.
• Communicates well with and relates to consumers from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds.
• Takes responsibility for own actions and is proactive and self-starting.
• Extensive and recent experience in the mental health field including acute inpatient services and/or community mental health care
• Familiarity with the Australian Health Minister’s Mental Health Statement of Rights and responsibilities (2012) and the United Nations General Assembly Resolution on the Protection of Persons with Mental Illness and the Improvement of Mental Health Care (1991) 
•  Working knowledge of discipline specific legislation relevant to clinical practice
•  Compliance with other relevant legislation
•  A current Victorian Drivers Licence
