The Team & Role
The Finance Analyst position sits within the Finance and Commercial Directorate, which provides organisation wide leadership in financial stewardship, performance management, compliance and strategic resource planning. The role operates specifically within the Performance Analysis Reporting Unit (PARU), a specialist analytics and reporting function responsible for delivering high quality financial analysis, performance insights and data-driven reporting frameworks that support executive and operational decision-making. PARU plays a key role in strengthening organisational transparency, accountability and performance monitoring by integrating financial, activity and operational data into meaningful intelligence to guide both strategic priorities and day-to-day decision-making.
Position Summary
The Finance Analyst is a senior analytical role, operating with a high degree of professional autonomy and judgement to support financial sustainability and performance. The role provides advanced financial modelling, performance analysis, budgeting insight and activity-based evaluation to support strategic and operational decision-making across the Peninsula Care Group.
Working within PARU, the role strengthens organisational financial sustainability through high-level analytical expertise, enhanced reporting frameworks and robust planning tools. The position collaborates closely with Finance Business Partners, Activity Based Funding and Activity Based Costing team, Financial Reporting and operational leaders, to deliver accurate, timely and actionable financial insights that support organisational performance, accountability and continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience Required
- Apply advanced professional expertise to interpret complex financial, operational and activity-based data, delivering insights that inform high-level planning and resource allocation.
- Lead development and enhancement of forecasting, costing, workforce and activity-based models using advanced Excel, Power Query, Power BI and enterprise finance systems.
- Provide senior analytical support for annual budgets, forecasting cycles, performance targets and long-term financial sustainability initiatives.
- Prepare high-quality financial and activity performance reports that support executive, board and directorate decision-making.
- Undertake complex analysis to support activity-based funding allocation, efficiency reviews, value-for-money assessments and service evaluation.
- Consolidate and synthesise insights from Finance Business Partners and system data sources to produce comprehensive performance narratives.
- Provide expert advice on financial governance, system optimisation, data quality improvement and reporting methodologies within PARU.
- Support Finance Business Partners and Senior Management on business cases, assessment of proposed investments, service changes, and business improvement projects through high-level analytical modelling.
- Strengthening business intelligence and data capability across the Peninsula Care Group by improving data structures, reports, dashboards, templates and analytical workflows.

Analytical and Technical Expertise
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex, multi-source data sets and translate them into strategic insights.
- Expert proficiency in:
- Advanced Excel (complex formulas, Power Query, data modelling, automation).
- Power BI (data modelling, DAX, dashboard development).
- Power Query / ETL processes
- Enterprise finance and reporting systems

Ability to integrate financial, operational and activity-based insights into strategic recommendations that influence executive decision-making.
