What You Will Be Doing
A Basic Physician Training (BPT)1/PGY2 employee undertakes their first year of accredited Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP) BPT in parallel and complementary to fulfilling the role of a House Medical Officer (HMO).
Under the direction of more experienced medical staff and through collaboration with other health professionals, the HMO provides appropriate medical care commensurate with their capabilities.
In addition, the role is designed to allow you to meet the clinical rotational and learning requirements set by the RACP. Rotations include General Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Renal Medicine, Oncology, Endocrinology, Infectious diseases, Geriatrics and Palliative Care.
To ensure success in managing the clinical demands of the role and the requirements established by the RACP, a robust education program is offered which includes simulation sessions, didactic teaching, short and long case presentations. In addition support is given to achieve research goals.
What You Need
- Current General Registration with the AHPRA Medical Board of Australia
- MBBS or equivalent
- Completion of PGY1 year at time of commencement
- Sound clinical knowledge, skills and experience in contemporary medical and evidence based practice

*Please refer to AMA Victoria – Victorian Public Sector – DiT Enterprise Agreement 2022 – 2026 salary circular for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
