What You Will Be Doing

Work alongside professional and supportive surgical consultants in the Acute General Surgical Unit. Consultants lead rounds daily with regular weekly teaching sessions.  

Six-month rotations in Urology available for interested applicants.  

You will be based at Frankston Hospital but may be required to attend operating sessions, endoscopy lists or clinics at the Frankston Public Surgical Centre.

 

Applicants should be PGY3 level or beyond and intend to pursue a career in surgery.
Successful applicants can expect to gain experience in operative surgery, ward & outpatient management of surgical patients, surgical audit and multidisciplinary care meetings.

Peninsula Health is committed to encouraging and fostering an environment of continued learning and skill development. Trainees are ensured protected training time to attend structured registrar training sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays. They are encouraged to attend local/National conferences and workshops.

Registrars are encouraged to participate in research with a dedicated monthly research meeting and research assistant.

What You Need


We anticipate you will have:

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Ability to work as an effective member of an inter disciplinary team
  • Sound clinical knowledge, skills and experience in contemporary medical and evidence based practice
  • General registration with AHPRA as a medical practitioner
