  • Senior Resident Medical Officer / Rotational - Full Time / 38 hours per week
  • Opportunity to complete your Emergency Medicine Certificate (EMC)
  • Located at Peninsula University Hospital and Rosebud Hospital

Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.

 

Peninsula University Hospital recently opened following an extensive renovation including a new state of the art tower, and expansions to the Emergency Department. This includes a dedicated Paediatric Emergency zone which is expected to be operational in 2026. Candidates interested in Paediatric Emergency Medicine are encouraged to apply.

 

The Team & Role

 

  • Bayside Health Emergency departments are one of the leading Emergency organisations in Victoria, with an innovative model of care, interesting and challenging case mix and high-level Consultant supervision. Senior Medical staff are on site 18 hours per day at Frankston and 10 hours per day at Rosebud.
  • Bayside Health has established teaching programs for junior medical staff, along with the opportunity to complete your Emergency Medicine Certificate, along with the opportunity to be involved in clinical audits, Research and Quality Improvement activities. Peninsula University Hospital Emergency Department is accredited for clinicians to complete their Emergency Medicine Certificate, a six-month structured program approved by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM).
  • Peninsula University Hospital Emergency has recently been awarded ACEM's highest level of accreditation at 24 months.
  • Under direction, provide appropriate medical care to patients and assist more senior doctors in complex cases. Build and expand personal skill levels to ensure that clients receive the best possible service reflecting up to date evidence based professional practice 
  • Be aware of and work in accordance with organisational policies and procedures including occupational health and safety and relevant legislative requirements. 
    Demonstrate positive workplace behaviours and relationships at all times

Skills & Experience Required

 

  • MBBS or equivalent 
  • Satisfactory completion of PGY2 year 
  • Minimum of 3 months Emergency experience at PGY2 level at time of commencement
  • Eligible for registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner, must be demonstrated within 3 months of position offer, including passing any relevant clinical and English language exams 
  • Eligible to work in Australia and demonstrate progress to obtaining relevant work visas 
  • The role will require rotations across Bayside Health sites, ability to commute to different sites is essential
