Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.

 

The Team & Role

Each year the Plastic Surgery Unit at Peninsula Health appoints 4 Unaccredited Plastics Registrar positions.  This is made up of 2 Full time Clinical Registrars and 2 Part time Registrars combining Clinical and Research.

Under supervision, provide appropriate medical care to patients and assist more senior doctors in complex cases.

  • Provide day to day clinical management of patients and attend daily ward rounds
  • Ensure patients are seen in a timely manner and accept referrals from other units seeking Consultant input
  • Perform Unit duties as delegated by the Head of Unit or receiving Consultant in accordance with Peninsula Health’s policies and procedures and relevant legislation
  • Provide HMO’s and interns with supervision, support, feedback and teaching
  • Attend and actively participate in service meetings and clinical audit activities convened by the Clinical Director or Head of Unit.

The Unaccredited Registrars combining clinical and research have the opportunity to complete or commence a higher degree, alternatively a standalone research project may be undertaken.  Weekly research meetings are held and coordinated by the Director of Surgical Research to guide and assist with any projects

Skills & Experience Required

  • MBBS Degree (or equivalent)
  • Eligible for registration with AHPRA as a medical practitioner
  • HMO4 level or beyond
  • Intend to pursue a career in surgery
  • Sound clinical knowledge, skills and experience in contemporary medical and evidence based practice
  • Commitment to patient care
  • Demonstrate initiative and self-direction
