The Role
As a General Medicine Advanced Trainee, you will provide high-quality inpatient and outpatient care as part of a multidisciplinary team with consultant supervision. You will contribute to teaching of junior medical staff and have opportunities to participate in research and quality improvement initiatives. The role is dynamic with ample opportunities to participate in General Medical or Specialty medicine endeavors. You will be expected to be a leader and to participate in the development of the Department of Medicine. Rotations may include:
- General Medicine (core)
- Intensive Care (Acute)
- Cardiology (Acute)
- Endocrinology
- Gastroenterology
- Oncology
- Infectious Disease
- Respiratory Medicine
- Renal
- Chief Medical Registrar
- Perioperative Medicine may be an option but at present is not an accredited rotation
What You Need
- MBBS or equivalent
- General registration with AHPRA
- Successful completion of RACP written and clinical examinations
- Victorian Working With Children Check (if successful)
- Valid Australian driver’s license
- Be able to meet the requirements of the position description
- Commitment to high-quality patient care
Important Dates:
Continuing Trainees (internal) with GACM – Internal Process
Continuing Trainees (external) with GACM as first preference – Offers commence Wed 8th July 2026
Continuing Trainees with Specialty Medicine as first preference – Offers commence 8th of July 2026 or once unsuccessful in specialty medicine match
New GACM Trainees – First Round offers likely 27 Aug 2026
Second Round offers if GACM not first preference – 27 Aug 2026
Closing Date – 1st September 2026 but may be extended as needed.
