Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.
The Team & Role
The Graduate Nurse Program is designed to support the newly qualified RN in the transition from student to registered practitioner. Throughout the program the graduate nurse is expected to deliver nursing care that is consistent with Bayside Health policies and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Standards. The graduate nurse is accountable for maintaining knowledge and skills ensuring they work within their scope of practice to provide high quality care to patients and clients. The RN works competently within their scope of practice to deliver safe, evidence-based, person-centred care to achieve optimal health outcomes.
This program offers two distinct pathways in Mental Health:
- Mental Health Program:
Includes a comprehensive 12-month rotation dedicated to Mental Health. - Mental Health/Nursing Program:
Comprises two 6-month rotations, providing experience across both Mental Health and Nursing disciplines.

- Demonstrate flexibility in caring for patients and their families across the organisation.
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document comprehensive nursing care within each clinical area in accordance with best practice and Peninsula Health values
- Work competently within your scope of practice to deliver safe, evidence-based, person-centered care to achieve optimal health outcomes.
- Practice in line with the principles of Recovery-Oriented Practice
- Have the option to commence mental health post graduate studies

Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering high quality outcomes for consumers
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Able to use basic computer software applications
- Ensure clinical documentation is written/typed using clear, concise and grammatically correct language
- Communicates well with and relates to consumers from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with experience
