Role of the Pain Fellow
Pain Medicine training at Bayside Health - Peninsula Care Group is accredited by the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM) of the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) for core training and practice development towards fellowship of FPM.
You will be part of the Integrated Pain team consultation liaison service for acute inpatients at Peninsula University Hospital, attend our Pain Medicine Clinic at Frankston, participate in the multidisciplinary outpatient clinic and pain management program at The Mornington Centre.
You will attend the Acute Pain Services ward rounds, have the opportunity to learn theatre based procedures, and to attend the palliative care ward rounds.
There will be regular teaching and Journal clubs. You will have opportunities to attend and present at Grand Rounds, radiology meetings and clinical audit meetings. You will also have opportunities for learning within the subacute cluster of Rehabilitation Medicine, Palliative Care and Aged Care and to participate in teaching medical students, and take part in research.
Our team includes Specialist Pain Medicine Physicians, a Psychiatrist, an Addiction Medicine Physician, a Clinical Nurse Consultant and allied health team.
Performance is supervised and monitored by an accredited Supervisor of training to ensure education and training needs are met.

Skills & Experience Required
- MBBS or equivalent
- Current registration as a Medical Practitioner in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Registration or eligibility to register as a trainee with the FPM:
(Training in pain medicine is a post-specialisation program that requires applicants to have either completed or be training towards a primary specialist medical qualification. To be eligible to register for FPM training, applicants must have completed at least three years full time equivalent training within that primary specialty).
- Sound knowledge in up-to-date evidence based Medicine.
