On 1 January 2026 five health services (Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service) will come together to create Bayside Health. A newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians.
The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.
The Team & Role
The Aboriginal Employment and Reconciliation Advisor* plays a pivotal role in advancing Peninsula Health’s commitment to reconciliation, cultural safety, and workforce diversity. This position leads the implementation of Peninsula Health’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), Aboriginal Employment Plan, and related policies, ensuring First Nations values are embedded across our inclusive culture, learning strategies, and employment practices.
As a key member of the Reconciliation Working Group, the Advisor will champion reconciliation initiatives across the organisation and within our community, fostering strong engagement and relationship-building with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Skills and Experience Required
Demonstrated experience in Aboriginal employment, community engagement, or workforce development.
• Strong understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal people, particularly in relation to employment and career progression.
• Proven ability to build relationships with Aboriginal communities, government, and internal stakeholders.
• Experience in mentoring, coaching, or supporting Aboriginal staff in a professional setting.
• Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., in Human Resources, Community Development, Aboriginal Studies, Social Work, or similar) - Desirable.
