Classification: HM14-HM20 plus super

Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.

 

Frankston Public Surgical Centre is a satellite hospital of Peninsula Care Group under Bayside Health with 5-theatres and a 32-bed ward. It is utilised exclusively for planned surgery including orthopaedics, general, urology, gynaecology, ENT, plastics and endoscopy. A 4-bed frequent observation unit is part of the ward structure.


What You Will Be Doing  

Under direction supervision by consultant anaesthetists, you will provide appropriate medical care to patients undergoing anaesthesia for surgery in the operating suite.

You will participate in perioperative medicine surgical patient care, contributing to the treatment of more medically complex post-operative patients, which includes supporting the Frequent Observation Unit. Engage in preoperative planning via imaging / pathology requests, surgical, medical and acute pain service ward rounds and aid in the care of routine post-operative patients, encompassing after-hours care.

 

You will also have the chance to engage in educational, training, and quality assurance meetings for the Department of Anaesthesia and/or Surgery Registrar teaching (please be advised that these sessions are conducted at Peninsula University Hospital).

Time Allocation:

  • 50% Anaesthesia: includes pre-op assessments, intraoperative anaesthetic management, and recovery room care.
  • 50% Perioperative & Post-operative Care: Involves arranging preoperative pathology and imaging request, surgical ward rounds, patient monitoring, pain management, and discharge planning.

What You Need 

 We anticipate you will have:

  • Current AHPRA general registration.
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Experience PGY3+
  • Maximum of 3 months experience in Anaesthetics
