What You Will Be Doing
The Bridging Support Worker will actively support the Community Health Counselling Service’s clients by proactively contacting clients awaiting their first appointment and engaging them for general wellbeing and connectedness. You will manage clients’ mental health risk during the wait, improve engagement with the service gearing towards their first session, assess clients’ suitability for the service and redirect them if necessary, as well as identify and address other immediate needs that may be contributing to the clients’ mental health.

What You Need
We anticipate you will have:
- Relevant tertiary education in an area of health, welfare, or community service sector; preferably related to mental health.
- Advanced listening, communication, and engagement skills; particularly over the phone.
- Well-developed written communication skills, including basic clinical documentation.
- Ability to assert and maintain professional boundaries.
- Ability to identify risk and escalate as appropriate.
- Completed training in risk screening.
- Foundational knowledge of Motivational Interviewing framework; through training, supervised experience, or commitment to complete training.
- Willingness to engage openly and meaningfully in operational and clinical supervision.
- Intermediate computing skills, including Microsoft Office suite, and quick to pick up relevant software/systems.

*Please refer to Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021-2026 salary circular for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
