    What You Will Be Doing

    Peninsula Health is currently seeking flexible, dynamic and energetic specialised Principal Registrars to work in the Emergency Department at Frankston Hospital.

    Peninsula Health Emergency departments are one of the leading Emergency organisations in Victoria, with an innovative model of care, interesting and challenging case mix and high level of Consultant supervision (Senior Medical staff on site 18 hours per day at Frankston, 10 hours/day at Rosebud). Frankston Emergency has recently been awarded ACEMs highest level of accreditation at 24 months, with the network offering access to secondment rotations (including Medicine, ICU and Anaesthetics, Paediatrics, as well as Special skills rotations in Ultrasound and Education).

    Peninsula Health has established teaching programs for ACEMs Primary and Fellowship exams, a Simulation medicine teaching program (monthly sessions in
    conjunction with Anaesthetics, Paediatrics and Intensive Care in the dedicated on site simulation lab), as well as offering supervision for the ACEM Emergency Medicine Certificate and Diplomas. Registrars have ample opportunities for involvement with non clinical activities including clinical audits, Research and Quality Improvement activities.

    Peninsula Health provides acute health services based at Frankston and Rosebud Hospitals, Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative Care Services (across six campuses), Mental Health programs, fully integrated inpatient and community based services, and Community Health services. Recent building developments completed in an exciting expansion program, include a new state-of –the art surgical and critical care facility and Frankston Hospital’s Stage 3 expansion, which includes 92 beds within 3 new wards and a new Emergency Department. The ED had approximately 75,000 presentations per year.

Position Description


Key Responsibilities • To provide high quality clinical care to patients.
• To assist the Director and Staff Specialists in the care and management of presentations.
• To supervise Registrars, Residents and Interns allocated to the Department
• Participate in educational and clinical and quality audit activities
• Deliver acute care to patients within the hospital under supervision and assist senior staff in these matters.
• They are primarily responsible for the care of patients and developing skills in supervising Junior Medical Staff and in ED Management

What You Need

• MBBS or equivalent
• Registration as a Medical Practitioner in Australia or special registration to be employed as a doctor in Australia
• Relevant Non ED rotations, (Paediatrics and ICU or Anaesthetics.)
• Ability to manage Emergency Department as the senior doctor in charge.
• Final year advanced training ACEM.

*Please refer to Doctors in Training (Victorian Public Health Sector) (AMA Victoria/ASMOF) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2022-2026 for salary circular for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
