The Team & Role

The Older Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit (1 West) is a 16 bed unit based at Peninsula University Hospital.

Peninsula Health Mental Health and Wellbeing Service is committed to the principles of Recovery Orientated Practice. It aims to provide timely and equitable access to a quality service, and actively supports and encourages consumer and carer participation in all aspects of planning and delivery of mental health services.

The Enrolled Nurse & Psychiatric Enrolled Nurse (PEN) is a valued and integral member of the Peninsula Health multidisciplinary team demonstrating flexibility in caring for patients and their families / carers. The PEN works as part of the specialist mental health nursing team, under the supervision of a RPN. The PEN monitors the impact of nursing care and maintains ongoing communication with the Registered Nurse regarding the health and functional status of individuals. 

At all times the PEN retains responsibility for their actions and remains accountable in providing delegated nursing care to deliver safe, evidence based person centred care.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering high quality outcomes for consumers
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with experience
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Prepares written documentation using clear, concise and grammatically correct language
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of Recovery Orientated practice in Mental Health Care
