The Team & Role 

The Exercise Physiologist delivers evidence-based exercise physiology services to adults with chronic health conditions, older persons, and people with disabilities within a community health setting. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the role provides client-centred assessment, treatment, education, and self-management support to improve health and wellbeing outcomes. The position contributes to early intervention, health promotion, and disease prevention programs, with a focus on community participation and wellbeing. The Exercise Physiologist collaborates with clients, carers, and service providers to deliver coordinated care and achieve positive health outcomes. The role also supports ongoing quality improvement activities and assists in the supervision and development of students, Allied Health Assistants, and volunteers.

Skills & Experience Required 

  • Hold a Bachelor degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or equivalent, with a Masters / Graduate Diploma in Exercise Physiology.
  • Registration and accreditation with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA).  
  • Demonstrated understanding of the pathophysiology of the target pathologies (including, but not limited to, cardiopulmonary, metabolic, musculoskeletal, neurological or neuromuscular conditions, cancers, mental health disorders and chronic pain).
  • Experience working with diverse groups and chronic disease (desirable)
