What You Will Be Doing
General Paediatrician - Maternity leave cover
Peninsula Health, Frankston Hospital is looking for a General Paediatrician to cover Maternity Leave. This role will be for 12 months.
You will be part of the acute ward duty roster with on-call responsibilities as well as to cover General Paediatric Medical Clinics if required. This is a position at Peninsula Health-Frankston hospital / Hastings Community Centre to support the current paediatric work force.
Frankston Hospital has a 15 bed Children's Ward and 13 bed Special Care Unit, with most acute admissions through the Emergency Departments at Frankston and Rosebud Hospitals. There is 24 hour Registrar cover. The successful applicant needs to be available for emergencies with the neonatal and paediatric settings within 30 minute timeframe from call to bedside. The applicant needs to be available to cover SMS rostered shifts and will be solely on duty at Peninsula Health when rostered.
The successful candidate would be expected to provide supervision to junior paediatric staff including HMOs and registrars.
This position is part time fixed term.
What You Need
We anticipate you will have:
• Medical Practitioner Registered in Australia.
• FRACP ( Paediatrics)
• Recent completion of APLS and/ or neonatal resuscitation courses
• Sound clinical knowledge, skills and experience in contemporary medical and evidence based practice relevant to variety of medical conditions.
• Knowledge of developmental milestones in the paediatric population
• Knowledge of mandated requirements in terms of child protection issues
• Excellent communication skills
• Broad knowledge of General Paediatric medical conditions
• Ability to liaise with allied health professionals as well as other agencies.
• Patient safety and quality review knowledge and skills
• Leadership and time management skills
• Supervision of paediatric trainees - both AT and BT in either community paediatrics or general paediatrics
• Mentoring and teaching Junior Medical Staff and medical students
