On 1 January 2026 five health services (Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service) will come together to create Bayside Health. A newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians.  

 

The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

What You Will Be Doing   

As a Grade 2 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist within our Hand Therapy Service, you will bring established clinical expertise in person-centred care for individuals experiencing hand trauma, acute injuries, and degenerative conditions. Your role will involve:

  • Clinical Excellence: Conducting comprehensive assessments of hand and upper limb conditions, underpinned by a strong understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, and functional impact.
  • Collaborative Practice: Working as an integral member of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced outpatient clinic and hand therapy setting.
  • Inpatient Support: Contributing to the care of surgical inpatients through targeted hand therapy interventions and discharge planning.
  • Communication & Leadership: Demonstrating effective communication skills to support clinical decision-making, patient education, and team collaboration.
  • Supervision & Mentorship: Providing guidance and supervision to Grade 1 clinicians, students, and Allied Health Assistants as required, fostering professional growth and service excellence.

What You Need  

We anticipate you will have:  

 
  • Bachelor or tertiary equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
  • Current registration with the Occupational Therapy / Physiotherapy Board of Australia (via AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the management of acute and chronic and upper limb conditions.
  • Demonstrated competency in all aspects of splinting and wound care.
  • Ability to supervise other staff to promote professional competence as required
  • Monitors own performance. Takes an organised and methodical approach to the prioritisation of tasks and regularly plans and tracks progress.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills in a variety of settings.
  • Keeps up to date with professional development and seeks the expertise and advice of others
  • Eligibility for membership to Occupational Therapy Australia / Australian Physiotherapy Association or Australian Hand Therapy Association

*Please refer to Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021-2026 salary circular for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
