  • Limited Term Part Time, 32 hours per fortnight until 30/06/2026

  • Classification: Grade 3 Year 1-4* plus super 

 

On 1st January 2026, five health services (Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service) will come together to create Bayside Health; a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians.   

  

The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1st January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health. 

 

The Team & Role 

Grade 3 Occupational Therapists / Physiotherapists in our hand therapy service require expertise in person centred care in the management of hand trauma, acute hand injury and degenerative hand conditions. The candidate must demonstrate excellent skills in the assessment of hand conditions including an understanding of the biomechanics and anatomy of the upper limb. The role requires effective communication to perform help lead a dynamic team working in a busy clinic and outpatient setting.  

This Is primarily working in hand therapy led advanced scope practice clinics for the assessment and treatment planning of acquired hand conditions (carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, 1st CMC joint OA).

Skills and Experience Required 

  • Recognised tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy   
  • Current Registration with the Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy Board of Australia (AHPRA)  
  • Current National Police and Working with Children History Check  
  • Specialist postgraduate training and/or experience in Plastics/Hand Therapy  
  • Post graduate qualification in relevant areas of practice or working towards same 
  • Credentialed in an Advanced Scope of Practice role for the management of degenerative hand conditions—including carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, first CMC joint osteoarthritis, and De Quervain’s tenosynovitis—at Peninsula Health or an equivalent public health service offering a similar program  
  • Eligible for membership of Australian Hand Therapy Association  
  • Well informed of current developments in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and Hand Therapy  
  • Demonstrates and models a strong commitment to ongoing professional development  
  • Possesses knowledge and understanding of the cultural diversity of the community.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering high quality outcomes for consumers

*Please refer to Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021-2026 salary circular for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
