Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.
The Team & Role
The Head of Speech Pathology and Audiology provides strong strategic leadership and direction for speech pathology and audiology and drives service delivery, workforce, innovation, research, quality, safety and risk management strategies for the profession across Peninsula Health. The role is responsible for professional governance, including overseeing credentialing, scope of practice and clinical supervision, for all speech pathologists and audiologists across all programs of Peninsula Health. It is also responsible for operational governance of speech pathology staff working in inpatient and acute outpatient settings. This role ensures provision of excellent clinical care, achievement of maximal operational effectiveness and fosters partnerships within and external to Peninsula Health. This role is an integral member of the Allied Health Leadership Team, and is responsible for leading relevant allied health portfolio/s. Direct reports include operational and clinical senior speech pathologists, the speech pathology student coordinator and the speech pathology clinical educator.

Skills & Experience Required
- Member or eligible for membership of Speech Pathology Australia
- Relevant post-graduate qualifications in speech pathology, health services management, public health or health administration (or working towards same)
- Extensive experience in speech pathology operational management and professional leadership role at a senior or management level
- Extensive clinical knowledge, skills and experience in speech pathology
- Strong knowledge of acute and sub-acute inpatient and acute outpatient nutrition and speech pathology service provision
