What You Will Be Doing 

About the Safer Together Program

The Safer Together Program (STP) is Safer Care Victoria’s (SCV) statewide safety improvement initiative, designed to build a continuously improving, person-centred, and sustainable health system. The STP Improvement Lead will support the implementation and sustainability of the program across the Bayside Local Health Service Network (LHSN). The Bayside LHSN is a collaborative partnership across six health services, including Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Calvary Health Care Bethlehem, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health.

This is contracted position, funded by Safer Care Victoria for up to 2 years, reporting to the Bayside LHSN STP Coordinator. The role is regionally based and operates under a flexible, hybrid working model, offering a balance of remote work and on-site engagement. Responsibilities span both rural and metropolitan health services, supporting local implementation and fostering collaboration across the network. As a key liaison between Safer Care Victoria and local services, the Improvement Lead ensures statewide priorities are embedded into local practice, cultivates collaboration, and supports the development of sustainable systems that enhance safety and quality at every level.

Qualifications and/or experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in health, public health, quality improvement, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading patient safety and quality improvement initiatives in a healthcare setting.
  • Proven ability support teams in improvement science and change management.
  • Experience working across multiple stakeholders and navigating complex systems.
  • Familiarity with the Victorian healthcare system and SCV’s strategic priorities is desirable.
  • Experience in building QI capability through tailored coaching, mentoring, and training using evidence-based quality improvement methods such as the IHI Model for Improvement.
  • Demonstrated strength in project management, strategic thinking, and organisational skills, with a focus on sustainable improvement and innovation.

*Please refer to the Health and Allied Services, Managers and Administrative Workers (Victorian Public Sector)(Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021-2025 salary circular for salary range.
