What You Will Be Doing
The Allied Health team is responsible for the development and implementation of intervention plans, therapy and activity programs for consumers admitted to the Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit at Frankston Hospital. The unit is a 29-bed inpatient facility, which provides Acute Mental Health Services to adults aged 18-65 with a range of health conditions.

Allied Health offer a specialised activity program for consumers with Mental Health related concerns including Schizophrenia, Depression and Trauma. The Allied Health team encourages promotion of a person’s retained cognitive ability and physical function, reducing isolation and creating a calm, supportive environment. Programs include education, behavioural activation, positive sensory stimulation and engagement in meaningful occupation through social and creative group activities and 1:1 person centred interventions/activities.

The Leisure and Lifestyle Assistants support the provision of quality care to assist consumers in achieving their goals. The Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant is a valued member of the multidisciplinary team, assisting with group facilitation, non-clinical tasks and client care under the guidance of the treating care team.

What You Need
 We anticipate you will have:

  • Certificate IV qualification in Leisure and Lifestyle Assistance or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver programs to adults with mental health concerns, cognitive impairment or changed behaviour
  • Ability to work with individuals and groups utilising diversional and meaningful activities based on patient needs and preferences
  • Ability to contribute to consumer care plans as part of the multidisciplinary team
