Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026. 

  

The Team & Role 

The position is for the Peninsula Care Group (PCG) of Bayside Health.  As a Palliative Medicine Specialist/Physician, you will be providing clinical care to the patients referred to the Supportive and Palliative Care Consult Team (PCCT) including patients at home under Better@Home program, clinic or in-patients.

 

You will work with the junior medical staff, PCCT Clinical Nurse Consultants, allied health staff and senior medical staff. Over a fortnight your hours of work consist of 42 hours or as agreed with the Head of Unit-Palliative Care. Your rostered hours will be Friday 0900-1600 hrs including an out-patient clinic session on Friday mornings. However, the rostered hours can vary from Monday to Friday (0830-1700 hours).  You will be required to participate in an on-call) roster that covers PCG Supportive and Palliative Care Unit and other PH sites.

Skills & Experience Required 

  • MB BS or equivalent degree
  • General registration as a Medical Practitioner with the AHPRA without reprimands
  • You will need to hold a specialist medical qualification in the relevant specialty, and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (Palliative Medicine sub specialty) or Fellow of the Chapter of Palliative Medicine of the Royal Australian College of Physicians.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in the community care and aged care setting 
  • Commitment to the Core Values and Of Peninsula Care Group
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Current Drivers Licence recognised in Australia
