What You Will Be Doing

The Mental Health After Hours Coordinator (MHAHC) is a valued member of the leadership team at Peninsula Health, committed to upholding Peninsula Health’s values and meeting organisational goals.

The MHAHC assumes the operational responsibilities of the General Manager after hours and is the key contact for the Executive on call.

The MHAHC undertakes the After-Hours management for Peninsula Health – Mental Health and Wellbeing service (a large metropolitan mental health service) and is responsible for the overall operation and clinical management of Peninsula Health Mental Health and Wellbeing Service in conjunction with the on-call Psychiatrist. This incorporates all Mental Health inpatient and community services. The MHAHC is instrumental in bed management and resource allocation and are responsible for leading and managing a diverse team ensuring delivery of safe, evidence based, person centred care to achieve a high standard of quality client outcomes. The MHAHC will also contribute to quality improvement and accreditation activities.

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:

  • Registered Nurse, Social Worker, OT or Clinical Psychologist with relevant registration.
  • (RPN only) Post graduate qualification in Mental Health or specialist undergraduate Mental Health program.
  • Extensive clinical experience in the management and provision of mental health services including acute inpatient services and/or community mental health care.
  • Experience in the management of human and financial resources at a senior level.
  • Proven ability in the management of consumers with a major mental illness and in the techniques of assessment, crisis intervention, counselling and psychosocial rehabilitation.

*Please refer to salary circular for VICTORIAN PUBLIC MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT 2021 – 2024 for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
