The Team & Role

The Integrated Youth Assertive Treatment Team (IYAT) operates between the hours of 08:30 – 17:00, Monday to Friday from our Williams Road, Frankston office (travel to other locations as required). 

IYAT delivers core community mental health services for young people aged 12-25 years, including care co-ordination, treatment and therapeutic interventions, wellbeing supports and consumer and carer peer supports. Services are available to young people and their families, carers and supporters. 

IYAT offers:  

• A clinical care co-ordination model for young people who present with current or emerging serious mental health disorders of adolescence and adulthood such as mood disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, or a combination of these, and are not currently engaged with, or have disengaged from, other primary supports.  

• Support for young people presenting with complex mental health needs, including co-occurring substance use, or other co-occurring conditions, significant vulnerability, and a range of psychosocial challenges. 

• Assertive, community-based assessment and treatment, with engagement typically ranging from 3 to 12 months. Care is provided flexibly through clinic appointments, telehealth, home visits, and other community-based settings. 

Working in partnership with the Consultant Psychiatrist and IYAT team manager, the IYAT clinician works collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team comprising of clinical, wellbeing and lived experience staff to provide a high standard of consumer focused, evidence-based care.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

• AHPRA registration or AASW registration
• Experience in working in youth mental health &/or in a community mental health setting (CAMHS or Adult Services)
• Current Victorian Driver’s License
• Working with Children Check
• Experience of using outcome measures to inform practice

Desirable

• Additional training in a psychotherapy (e.g. CBT, CAT, DBT, IPT, psychodynamic psychotherapy, schema therapy)
• Additional training and experience in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders
• Additional training and experience in delivering family based interventions such as Single Session Family Consultation
• Experience of conducting quality improvement activities or research projects
