What You Will Be Doing
The role of the Hospital Pharmacy Technician is to ensure the storage, distribution and dispensing of medicines is accurate and timely. Pharmacy Technicians contribute to safe, personal, effective and connected care by ensuring medicines are available in the place and at the time they are needed. The Pharmacy Technician Team Leader is appointed to a specific team and in addition to the tasks undertaken by a Grade 2 Pharmacy Technician, the team leader has additional responsibilities to:
- Mentor and support rotational (Grade 1 & 2) technicians rostered in their area.
- Allocate the work effort of technicians in their area (in consultation with the senior pharmacist) to deliver the most efficient delivery of services and routine maintenance tasks. This includes dispensing, imprest top ups, bedside drawer top ups and allocation of breaks.
- Orientate technicians to their area.
- Ensure stock ordering and management procedures are implemented and maintained in their area of responsibility.
- Ensure administrative task such as PBS paperwork preparation is up to date.
- Set standards and expectations for their team and promote continuous improvement in the quality and effectiveness of work undertaken.
This role will include rostered shifts at various Peninsula Health sites, including Rosebud Hospital, The Mornington Centre and Golf Links Road Rehabilitation Centre.

What You Need
We anticipate you will have:
- Experience as a hospital pharmacy technician
- Have completed a Certificate III course approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia
- Have completed or willing to complete a Certificate IV in hospital pharmacy (or equivalent)
- Demonstrated highly developed ability and attitude to be part of a working team
- Demonstrated general clerical skills including proficiency with computer programs

*Please refer to salary circular Victorian Health and Allied Services Public Sector Enterprise Agreement 2021-2025 for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
