The Team & Role
Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technicians play a vital role in the delivery of hospital pharmacy services and are key members of the multidisciplinary team within Bayside Health’s Pharmacy Department. The role involves preparing and supplying medicines, liaising with patients and consumers to support the safe and effective use of medicines, and working closely with pharmacists and other health professionals to provide timely, high‑quality care.
This position provides essential operational support, including procurement of medicines, inventory management, distribution to wards and departments, and maintaining accurate records. The successful applicant will be primarily based at Frankston Hospital, with the flexibility to work across other Bayside Health sites as required.
Grade 1 Pharmacy Technicians work under direct pharmacist supervision and assist with dispensing, stock control and replenishment, tablet packing, manufacturing support and clerical tasks. Completion of an approved Certificate III in Hospital Pharmacy is required within 18 months of appointment.
Grade 2 Pharmacy Technicians have completed an approved Certificate III and perform the full scope of Grade 1 duties, while demonstrating a strong commitment to skill development, continuous learning and broader hospital pharmacy activities. They may also support the training of new technicians and students.

Skills & Experience Required
- Demonstrated highly developed ability and attitude to be part of a working team
- Demonstrated general clerical skills including proficiency with computer programs, e.g. Microsoft Excel and Word
- Demonstrated ability to accept and carry out instructions
- Demonstrated communication and liaison skills
- Ability to provide courteous and effective customer service
- Demonstrated meticulous attention to details
- Knowledge of medication names and the PBS
- Hold a Certificate III (or IV) in Hospital or Health Services Pharmacy support (desirable)
