What You Will Be Doing

 

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a valued and integral member of the Peninsula Health multidisciplinary team demonstrating flexibility in caring for women and their families. The RN Student Midwife works competently within their scope of practice to deliver safe, evidence-based, women-centred care to achieve optimal health outcomes for the mother - baby dyad in the postpartum period and beyond.

 

Throughout the program the student is expected to deliver midwifery care at the level of a developing learner commensurate with the level of knowledge acquired through practical experience and academic knowledge. The Post Graduate Student is expected to work closely with the Peninsula Health Learning Hub to meet all requirements of the program. Post graduate Midwifery students are paid for all supernumerary hours needed to fulfil their course requirements. 

 

Pregnancy and birth are life changing events. Being a midwife is an inspiring and immensely fulfilling role that requires a number of qualities including confidence, compassion and trust. Every day is different, bringing with it assorted experiences and challenges, and midwives need to have the skills to respond to all of these appropriately and competently.

What You Need

 

We anticipate you will:

 

  • Be a Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
  • Have a Bachelor of Nursing qualification
  • Have atleast one year of current clinical experience
  • Have a current application in the 2026 Graduate Diploma of Midwifery with Federation University (Part time)

*Please refer to salary circular for Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2024-2028 for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
