  • Permanent Part Time (64 hours per fortnight)
  • Location: Peninsula University Hospital (Frankston)
  • Classification: Occupational Therapist Grade 2, Year 1 - Year 4 (VF6 - VF9)*, Physiotherapist Grade 2, Year 1 - Year 4 (VB1 - VB4)* or Registered Nurse (YU11)*

The Team & Role 

The Response, Assessment and Discharge clinician is an essential member of the Emergency Department team and supports safe, timely and person centred patient flow. The role provides rapid assessment, care coordination and comprehensive discharge planning, with a strong focus on older adults presenting to the Emergency Department. Working within their professional scope and with additional specialist training, the clinician undertakes functional and cognitive screening, identifies risk early, and facilitates safe discharge home while avoiding unnecessary admission. The position also links patients with appropriate community pathways to ensure they receive the right care in the right place at the right time. Applications are open to AHPRA registered occupational therapists, physiotherapists and registered nurses.

Skills & Experience Required 

  • Current AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, or Registered Nurse  
  • Experience working within an acute health care setting
  • Demonstrated expertise in background profession relevant to patients with complex needs and/or chronic health conditions
  • Previous experience in a Response Assessment Discharge (RAD) or similar role, involving additional skills gained through specific training (desirable)
  • Recent clinical experience working in an Emergency Department within a health service (desirable)
