The Team & Role

The Hospital Outreach Post-suicide Engagement (HOPE) Team provides support for people who have either attempted suicide or been identified as at-risk of suicide. The successful applicant will work with individuals who have attempted suicide or present with serious intent, with expert brief therapeutic interventions to enable improved resilience and self-management of distress. It is anticipated that the Senior Clinican will take a lead role alongside other HOPE team members to provide evidence based intervention sessions. This may include Brief Solution Focussed Therapy, Mindfulness and Problem Solving skills to assist a client improve their resilience and equip the individual to use skills and strategies in order to face any future crises with more confidence.

Skills & Experience Required

What You Need 

We anticipate you will have:

  • Registered Nurse, Social Worker, OT or Clinical Psychologist with relevant registration RPN ONLY: Post graduate qualification in Mental Health or specialist undergraduate Mental Health program
  • Other relevant tertiary qualification or working towards, in relevant areas such as therapeutic interventions, drug and alcohol or psychosocial interventions
  • Extensive experience in the mental health field including acute in-patient services and/or community mental health care
  • An understanding of the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and the National Safety and Quality Health Services Standards, and the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards including EQuIP.
  • A current drivers license.
