What You Will Be Doing 

The Principal Dental Assistant is a key member of the wider multidisciplinary dental team and integral member of the Clinical Leadership Group. This role has a focus on providing safe, personal, effective and connected care to members of our community. The Principal Dental Assistant role has a focus on public health, providing leadership and expert skills in dental assisting, clinical care, Infection Control practices, administration duties and reception services.  The Principal Dental Assistant will oversee mentorship to new dental assistants, dental assistant students and trainees.  The Principal dental assistant will support the dental management team while role modelling the organisational values

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:

Certificate IV or equivalent in a Dental Assisting Specialty scheme
• More than 7 years’ experience as a Dental Assistant
• In addition requirements set out in relevant dental assisting EBA for Grade 1 , 2 and 3, a
Senior Dental Assistant at Grade 4 is required to demonstrate the skills outlined in key
responsibilities below
• Demonstrate strong leadership, knowledge and support especially in regards to infection and
prevention measures
• Demonstrate supervisory and leadership skills to obtain cooperation on objectives or
cohesiveness of the team or administrative information
• Demonstrated strong reception and intake skills
• Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to implement change and motivate others in change innovations
• Experience in leading change/process improvement initiatives
