Peninsula Health is the major metropolitan health service for Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula. We care for a population of 300,000 people, which swells to over 400,000 people during the peak tourism seasons between December and March.

The Gastroenterology Unit at Peninsula Health currently comprises 16 specialist Gastroenterologists, three advanced trainees (2 accredited), 2 full-time IBD CNCs, 2 hepatology CNCs and specialist gastrointestinal dieticians and pharmacists. The inpatient Gastroenterology service typically has 10-20 inpatients with a similar number of consultation requests. There is a busy interventional endoscopy unit with established services in ERCP, EUS, ESD, double-balloon enteroscopy and Halo RFA along with an Upper GI bleeding and ERCP Emergency Endoscopy service. In terms of ambulatory care, we currently offer outpatient services in the following areas:
- Hepatology – Steatotic liver disease clinic; Specialist liver clinic (including dedicated autoimmune liver disease, viral hepatitis and liver mass streams)
- Inflammatory bowel disease – IBD clinic; IBD flare clinic; Nurse-led IBD clinic
- Endoscopy clinic
- General Gastroenterology clinic
- Functional GI clinic
There is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic clinician to build upon clinical and academic endoscopy services at Peninsula Health. The EFT and job description can be negotiated on a case-by-case basis depending on sub-specialty interest but would including endoscopy clinic and dedicated endoscopy sessions (range 0.3 – 0.5 EFT).
Qualifications and/or experience – Must have the following qualifications
- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent
- Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner
Desirable criteria
- Recognised as an accredited Specialist in Gastroenterology Medicine by the Specialist Advisory Committee of the Royal Australasian College Physician
- FRACP or equivalent
- For endoscopy lists:
- CCRTGE (Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy) certification in gastroscopy and colonoscopy ± other advanced endoscopy procedures.
- CCRTGE re-certification in colonoscopy if > 3 years from initial recognition
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to work with individuals and families for positive health outcomes and to foster productive working relationships both internally and externally.
