Bayside Health is a public health service delivering high-quality care across every stage of life for close to 1.2 million people living in metropolitan Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, Koo Wee Rup, Bass Coast and Southern Gippsland.

We have more than 15 main sites, including hospitals, centres and clinics that provide comprehensive care from welcoming newborns to supporting older people and a full range of services in between.

More than 22,000 dedicated staff are focussed on providing exceptional, equitable, and locally connected care through shared expertise, compassion, and a commitment to continuous growth. Education and training are central to staff development as we encourage all employees to strive and thrive.

Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.

The Team & Role

The Access, Assessment, Brief Intervention & Consultation (ABC) Team is part of the Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health Service (ICYMHS). During business hours, Monday to Friday we provide a welcoming initial point of contact for consumers, family members and service providers seeking services for infants, children and young people aged 0-25 years.

These service functions include:

  • Telephone triage of new referrals including initial screening, information gathering, initial mental health and risk assessment, service navigation and referral
  • Comprehensive, holistic mental health and wellbeing assessments across a range of mediums including via clinic appointments, telehealth and / or outreach into the community
  • Brief community treatment, utilising single session models, including family interventions (up to 3  months)
  • Community consultation, service navigation and mental health promotion to a range of service providers either via individual or group sessions

Senior Clinicians within the ABC will support the Manager and the Clinical Head of the ICY to provide clinical leadership and supervision to the team and the service more broadly.  This is an exciting opportunity for mental health clinicians with experience in child and adolescent, youth and / or community mental health to actively participate in the expansion of the Infant, Child and Youth Service, while developing clinical leadership skills in a supportive environment.   It is a time of growth and change with opportunities for innovation and developing a strong, cohesive and skilled team.
