The Team & Role
The Speech Pathology senior clinician (grade 3) acute position is a senior leadership role integral in strategic, professional, operational and clinical governance across acute sites and in partnership with subacute, aged care and community services. The position requires a skilled and innovative speech pathologist to deliver high quality evidence based services to a broad range of clients in an acute inpatient setting.
The senior acute speech pathologist works with the Head of Speech Pathology, Speech Pathology Professional Leadership Group, speech pathologists and multidisciplinary colleagues in support of efficient, effective, high quality, best practice and person centred services.
The speech pathologist must have skills and experience in providing clinical supervision to junior staff, encouraging evidence based practice and self-reflection. The senior speech pathologist will have well developed communication and leadership skills to lead a team.

Skills & Experience Required
• Eligible for practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
• Extensive experience and knowledge in the provision of best/evidence based acute speech pathology services.
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide effective leadership within a dynamic multidisciplinary setting including clinical practice and operational performance.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing high quality professional development and education of others based on best practice education principles.
• Proven engagement with quality and service improvement.
• Commitment to own professional development and that of the acute team.
• Well-developed supervision skills; supervision of junior staff and students.
• Videofluoroscopy (VFSS) competency and experience in training and supporting others in VFSS.
• Active interest and/or experience in quality improvement and research.
