On 1st January 2026, five health services (Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service) will come together to create Bayside Health; a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians.     

The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1st January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health. 

 

The Team & Role 

This position works with children with mild to moderate development delays across Frankston and Mornington Peninsula catchment. A holistic approach to supporting the family, informed by the social model of health is valued. 

In addition to individual assessments and intervention, the role will provide support to families and sector workers on the developmental needs of the child. This includes outreach, consultancy, education, group work and health education

The Grade 2 Occupational Therapist contributes to the discipline group responsible for providing and co-ordinating the clinical services requiring occupational therapy input in a multidisciplinary setting. The Grade 2 Occupational Therapist provides supervision and support to Grade 1 staff and students and contributes to the leadership of the peer supervision professional group and broader team.

Skills & Experience Required 

  • Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and maintain current full registration with AHPRA
  • Ability to assess occupational performance considering physical, cognitive and psychosocial, aspects of the child and their environment and determine appropriate intervention for relevant settings
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Developed multidisciplinary skills with a wide range of children (ages 0 – 12 years)
  • Experience providing evidence–based therapy services to children with developmental delays and their families within the community sector
  • Established skills and commitment to working in child-centred and family-focused practices including skills in working with vulnerable and disadvantaged families
  • Skills in supervision and development of Occupational Therapists and/or OT Students
