On 1st January 2026, five health services (Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service) will come together to create Bayside Health; a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians.  

The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1st January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

What You Will Be Doing

The Peer Work Discipline Lead role is a valued member of the Mental Health leadership team at Peninsula Health committed to upholding the values of the organisation and meeting our goals. Peninsula Health acknowledges and appreciates the lived experience of our consumers and carers and support their individual resourcefulness, strengths and abilities through the provision of excellent, specialised mental health care.  The Peer Work Discipline Lead will provide leadership and professional governance to the Mental Health and Wellbeing Peer workforce drawing on peer discipline frameworks and one’s own lived experience of mental health. The Peer Work Discipline lead will support quality, recovery orientated evidence based peer Interventions for clients through leadership and support. Role modelling capacity building and partnership with managers, clinical workforce and partner organisations.

What You Need 

We anticipate you will have: 

  Certificate IV in Peer Work
• Previous experience in a senior peer role
• Lived or Living experience of mental Illness, psychological distress, caring and engagement with mental health services is essential.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating or working in a mental health program, peer support or lived experience program
• Demonstrated knowledge of recovery orientated practice, trauma informed care and peer support principles.
• Ability to maintain and develop the culture, philosophy, standards, guidelines and policies of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Service.
• Understanding of the needs and issues for Peer workers working in clinical mental health services.
• High level communication skills, including ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a range of diverse groups of people.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain partnerships across a range of organisations including lived experience organisations.
• Proven ability to independently organise workload and manage time effectively.
• Demonstrated experience in, and commitment to supervision, education, training and ongoing professional development and participation in any workforce development strategies.
