Bayside Health is a public health service delivering high-quality care across every stage of life for close to 1.2 million people living in metropolitan Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, Koo Wee Rup, Bass Coast and Southern Gippsland.

We have more than 15 main sites, including hospitals, centres and clinics that provide comprehensive care from welcoming newborns to supporting older people and a full range of services in between.

More than 22,000 dedicated staff are focussed on providing exceptional, equitable, and locally connected care through shared expertise, compassion, and a commitment to continuous growth. Education and training are central to staff development as we encourage all employees to strive and thrive.

Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.

The Team & Role

Our New Peninsula University Hospital, situated in Frankston, has a Women's Health Outpatient service that has been specifically designed to provide our families with evidence-based state of the art care in a welcoming environment. This works hand in hand with our Inpatient area that is situated across one whole level of the New Tower.

We have a State-of-the-Art Birth Suite including a Pregnancy Assessment Unit and Fetal Monitoring Service that our Midwifery Leaders had input in to ensure smooth workflows with both staff and families as high priority in the design.

Our Special Care Nursey sits next to Birth Suite to provide a high level of collaboration and support when required. We have a separate 32 bed Maternity Ward that provides exceptional care for families’ pre and post birth. We currently support over 2500 families per year.

The MGP model requires the midwife to self-manage their contracted hours to optimize the opportunity for continuity of care for women in their caseload. MGP Midwives will have effective relationships within the MGP team to enable consistency of care for women during periods off call and to provide back up as required.

Our MGP program is growing and able to support a range of women through their pregnancies with a model that is able to provide continuity at all risk levels. We are also working towards providing homebirth on the Peninsula.
