The Team & Role

The Sexual Health Nurse position is an integral part of the Sexual & Reproductive Health Service within Community Health at Bayside Health. The Sexual Health Nurse will work alongside the Medical Officer, Nurse Practitioner and multidisciplinary team to provide a range of sexual and reproductive health clinical services, while participating in health promotion, education, outreach and community engagement activities across the Peninsula Care Group.

The role provides direct clinical services to individuals accessing sexual and reproductive health care, including sexual health screening, contraception education and support, cervical screening, unplanned pregnancy support, menopause care, and general women’s health care.

The Sexual Health Nurse provides care in a sensitive, trauma-informed, culturally safe, and non-judgemental manner, supporting consumers with diverse clinical, psychosocial, and community health needs.

Skills & Experience Required

  •        Registration as a registered nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Agency (AHPRA)
  • Minimum of two years postgraduate nursing experience, ideally in sexual health, women’s health, youth health, community health, or related clinical practice
  • Accredited Cervical Screening Provider (CST).
  • Demonstrated experience in sexual and reproductive health nursing care, including STI screening, contraception education, health promotion, and patient follow-up.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide trauma-informed, culturally safe, and non-judgemental care to diverse populations
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, while practising autonomously within nursing scope
