Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.

 The Team & Role

The team includes: Psychiatrist, Nurses, Community Mental Health Practitioners (Mind Australia), Social Worker, Occupational Therapist and Psychologist

The Youth Prevention and Recovery Care (YPARC) Service provides voluntary short term residential treatment, care and support to young people aged 16-25 years who present with a range mental and emotional health difficulties.  The YPARC is purpose built to meet the unique developmental needs young people, providing a home like environment that is staffed 24 hours/7 days a week. . The YPARC service is run in collaboration with a partner provider. This collaboration recognises the unique opportunity to provide young people and their carers/families with support during the early stages of an illness or episode and to provide them with treatment and strategies to manage mental health problems. The YPARC program is a 2 week program with the option of extension for up to 4 weeks for young people who require additional time or support.

Peninsula Care Group is committed to the principles of Recovery Orientated Practice. It aims to provide timely and equitable access to a quality service, and actively supports and encourages client and carer participation in all aspects of planning and delivery of mental health services.

In conjunction with the multidisciplinary staff, the Registered Nurse provides recovery orientated care to individuals accessing the service and their families/carers.  In order to achieve their position outcomes the Registered Nurse will develop effective partnerships with all staff including medical, nursing and allied health staff.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Registered Nurse with relevant registration
  • Post graduate qualification in Mental Health or specialist undergraduate Mental Health program.
  • Proven ability in the support of consumers with significant mental illness and in the techniques of assessment, crisis intervention, counselling, psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery oriented practice.
  • Extensive and recent experience in the mental health field including acute inpatient services and/or community mental health care.
