Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.

The Team & Role

Carinya Residential Service provides voluntary respite/permanent residential care and support to Older Adults Mental Health Clients aged +65 years who present with a range mental health Dementia associated changed behaviors. Carinya is renting in a purpose built residential Aged Care facility to meet the unique challenging behaviors that cannot be managed in a generic RACF nor at home, providing a home-like environment that is staffed 24 hours/7 days a week. Carinya is running in collaboration with a partner provider. This collaboration recognizes the unique opportunity to provide older adults and their carers/families with support during crucial stages of an illness or episode, providing them with care, treatment and strategies to manage mental health challenging problems. Carinya gives clients respite or permanent residential support after referral from home, other RACF, or hospital

The Social Worker is a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, utilising clinical expertise to provide assessment and intervention through individual work, group work and consultation to the team.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Degree in social work or Master of Social Work
  • Member of or eligibility for membership of, the AASW.
  • Minimum two years post-qualifying professional experience in a Mental Health related setting
  • Clinical understanding of the treatment for mental illness provided in in-patient and community settings, and working knowledge of community support services
  • Excellent skills in comprehensive assessments, discharge planning and counselling
